In 1991, the Philippines has experienced one of the most disastrous volcanic eruption in its history. Mt. Pinatubo, situated near the tripoint of the provinces of Zambales, Tarlac, and Pampanga, erupted. It had very adverse effects to nature and the people.
Now, it has been over two decades since the eruption and the people near the volcano have long since moved on and found a new life. Today, Mt. Pinatubo is a tourist spot for those who are kind of tight with the budget but still want to experience adventure through trekking mountains.
When you are already bound to see the beauty of Mount Pinatubo’s crater, be sure that you are properly dressed for the occasion. First, you should know that you will be riding a 4×4 truck to the starting point of your trek as this is the only transportation available. From here, the road you will be trekking is rocky. If you’re wearing flip-flops, you will not mind the rocks at first but as you go along, you will find it really annoying. So, you better wear something that has thick soles to protect your feet.
Trekking Mount Pinatubo is very alike with trekking an ordinary mountain except that Mount Pinatubo offers views and sights that let you have a sneak peek of what happened when it erupted a few years back. And the rewarding part? The crater. The crater is a very beautiful lake.
This is one place that is a little more attainable of a vacation spot. So what am I waiting for? Money, of course, and friends to tag along with.
